Butt Roll Unwinder, Roll Stripper – Paper Core Eater Recycler
Electric or air driven UNWINDERS are placed next to the press to strip butt rolls without the use of dangerous blades. The top, receiving shaft makes a loosely wound product that can easily be run through a hogger or placed in a baler. Initial unwind speed is 200’ per minute. The adjustable collar on the bottom loading shaft allows narrower rolls to be processed. Tapers on the receiving shaft not only make the unwind loose, but also makes the removal of the paper easy, avoiding the “Chinese finger trap” syndrome and eliminating any need to lubricate the shaft. A 10”- 12” overhang is also recommended to allow for easy gripping of the paper. Special adapters can be made for larger i.d. cores. Call us with your widest roll width and we will match you to the correct UNWINDER.
CORE EATERS are designed to use casual labor by placing next to the press and in the same area as the UNWINDER. 4” long, split pieces are pushed up the delivery chute as the core is processed. Electric or air models available Cores are placed in the top of the 3” model and on the side of the 6” model, after all white waste, plugs and caps have been removed. After the core has been completed, the machine will stop unless another core has been placed on top of it. Feed rate is between 2’ & 8’ per minute based on style chosen.

Core Eater for 3 Inch I.D. Paper Roll or Reel Cores
Please forgive our old video. A new one is being planned. Our Core Eater was created in the early 1980’s and still is being sold today. It is meant to reduce 3″ I.D. fiber cores with up to 3/4″ thick wall and break them into recyclable pieces 4″ long and cut in half. This makes them easily digested in a pulper, run through a hogger, shredder or just reduced in size for more economical disposal. The format does not allow for the pieces coming out of the discharge chute to be seen. After the chute fills up, the pieces fall out as new ones are generated.
